‘Inspired by Nature’ is the new 308’s range-spanning theme and environmental considerations were a key focus in its development. As a result, the 308’s C02 emissions are only 120g per kilometre when in HDi 90 specification and average fuel consumption exceeds 60 mpg*.

Road tax (VED) is reduced to only £35 on this 308 model, with low company car tax banding (BIK) and exemption from the London Congestion Charge (from October 2008), all meaning that the 308’s running costs are reduced still further.

Along with all other Peugeot HDi diesels, the 308 Sport HDi 90 is able to run on eco-friendly B30 bio-diesel without any modification.

Levels of build quality are extremely high in the 308, which offers outstanding levels of interior space and comfort.

The new practical and stylish 308 SW will join the 308 range from June 2008.

  In 1998 Peugeot committed to a major ecological sponsorship by helping to create a 'carbon sink' (an area of flora specifically set aside or developed to absorb CO2 in the atmosphere) in the Amazon. The aim is to study (through the creation of a large-scale, long-term living prototype) the relationship between reforestation, absorption of atmospheric carbon and climate control. Two million trees have been planted between 1999 and 2004.

  This project also involves the promotion of biodiversity. Rather than use a single, fast growth species that would prove especially productive, over 50 species have been used. This biodiversity should also have a direct impact on the fauna, by allowing the return of certain species into the new forest region.
