polo / golf bluemotion

The Polo and Golf BlueMotion may appear conventional but just under the surface they’re very special indeed.  Both vehicles have undergone extensive modifications in order to reduce the strain the advanced diesel engines are put under. Why?  Less strain equals fewer emissions and greater economy meaning it’s not only cleaner but also travels further on a tank of fuel.

Look carefully and you’ll spot revised aerodynamics to allow it to pass through the air more efficiently, underneath there’s a new gearbox and an optimised engine along with special economy tyres and a reduction in weight.  They all play their part in maximising the car’s potential.

These small changes make a big difference.  Equipped with a full tank of diesel either the Polo or the Golf BlueMotion could feasibly travel from London to the south coast of France – a distance of over 740-miles – in one go.  On the way you can expect it to achieve average fuel consumption in excess of 60 miles per gallon in the Golf and 70 miles per gallon in the Polo – all in air-conditioned comfort.

The Polo BlueMotion made its debut last year at the very first Sexy Green Car Show and it remains now, as it did then, one of the most efficient vehicles you can buy. The government agrees – the new Polo BlueMotion is one of few vehicles to sit in tax-free Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) band A.  Under current proposals put forward by Transport For London both the Polo and Golf BlueMotion will also be exempt from the London Congestion Charge from October 27th onwards.

Despite such a keen focus on economy both vehicles retain all the attributes of safety, versatility, reliability and everyday quality you’d expect from a Volkswagen.
